now you’ll never know,
and I’m no good at letting go,
the summer’s settled in,
the weeds are tall and wild again,
beneath a cloudless sky
there’s nowhere we can hide,
and so we miss you,
now you’ll never know..
a day like all the rest,
except that you have left,
so I will try my best
to keep this time you didn’t get,
to stumble over love,
that might be close enough,
you keep me honest,
I wonder if you know..
the geese are not afraid,
they’ve gathered in the shade,
to rest along their way,
or maybe this is where they’ll stay,
our hearts—a flock of birds,
with nowhere else to perch,
but here, together,
now you’ll never know..
beneath a cloudless sky
there’s nowhere we can hide,
and so we miss you,
I wonder if you know..
you keep me honest…
