meteor showers

August, 2020

fireflies and METEOR SHOWERs
flash across the same night sky,
this little light proclaims their powers,
if only for a few blinks of an eye..

you were there, but I was dreaming,
I awoke to find you gone,
this movie plays behind my eyelids,
where you’re a star, and we know every song..

lightning bugs and space rocks
trace their lines onto our retinas,
scrawl such soft graffiti,
there is wonder in this world of ours..

orchestras of insects calling,
blend their smallest sounds to start
a symphony of summer buzzing,
that fills up every corner of the dark,

lightning bugs dodge mason jars,
while shooting stars burn one last flight,
you can tell the 2 apart,
so make a wish, and don’t ask why..

fireflies and meteor showers
flash across the same night sky…
