Cinderella couldn’t stand it
on that bland fairy tale planet
though the princes tried to charm her at the ball,
she’d much rather go out riding,
anything is more exciting
than to gossip in a palace where the talk’s all small…
when Rapunzel dropped her hair
to see if anyone was there,
one young stranger climbed that ladder to her room,
and they lost track of the hours
playing Scrabble in the tower,
when she let him down, he promised he’d be back real soon,
+++who will come for me?
+++all I truly need
+++is company to share this weather,
+++as far as I can see
+++the stories all repeat,
+++we just try to tell them better…
little pigs build sturdy houses
for their children and their spouses,
they know danger shows up huffing at your door,
but they’ve learned from their adventures
how to fortify against the gale-force breath
you get from large, unfriendly carnivores..
+++who will come for me?
+++truly, all I need
+++is company to share this weather,
+++as far as I can see
+++the stories all repeat,
+++we just try to tell them better…
