Drunk Genius

you’re lighter on your feet and your tongue is looser,
now everyone you meet falls in love with your drunk genius,
when do you come down?
you step into a room and the party starts
to orbit around you and your broken heart, drunk genius,
you attract a crowd,
+++ but if you dried it out, simple distillation,
+++ strange miracle, turn sugar to wine,
+++ is it who you are?  catch it in a jar and we’ll watch it shine
+++ drunk, drunk genius, are you doing fine?

Now I don’t mean to judge, ’cause it’s not my business,
when everything you touch is awash in your drunk genius,
it’s such a lovely sound…
+++++ we all could use some loosening,
+++++ of our screws and of our springs,
+++++ it seems to work for you..

when summer’s sweetest fruit is a distant memory,
we’re left with the booze that we stashed back in the pantry,
that we could pass around..
+++ if you dried it out, simple distillation
+++ strange miracle, turn sugar to wine,
+++ is it who you are?  catch it in a jar and we’ll watch it shine..
+++ if you boiled it down to the very essence
+++ heads, hearts & tails, pour the bitter away,
+++ catch it in a jar, if it’s who you are, can we make it stay?
+++ drunk, drunk genius,
+++ drunk, drunk genius,
+++ drunk, drunk genius..

you’re lighter on your feet when your head is looser,
now everyone you meet falls in love with your drunk genius,
when will you come down?
