underground

April, 1998

underground there’s a rising sea
I felt it swell underneath my feet,
hiding out from the summer’s heat and you,
undermanned, and I can’t decide
where I stand when our eyes collide,
staring into a rising tide of blue,

understand it, no I can’t it
picks me up and it leaves me stranded
I’m halfway down, I’m headed underground..

unaware of how deep this runs and I
can’t compare you to anyone
the way the glare of the summer sun cuts through

understand it, no I can’t it
picks me up and it leaves me stranded
I haven’t found any way around it yet..
I’m halfway down, I’m headed underground..

underground there’s a yawning cave
where I hide the things I’m afraid to face,
and all the love that I couldn’t save,

I’m halfway down, I’m losing ground,
still looking for a new way out,
don’t push, don’t crowd, I’m headed underground,

understand it, no I can’t it
picks me up and it leaves me stranded
I haven’t found any way around it yet..
I’m halfway down, I’m headed underground…
