Almost Gone

I’m at a party full of artists, & they’re trying to be different,
it’s hard blame the artists, it’s just the way they are,
now everyone’s an artist, in case you hadn’t noticed it,
in search of something lovely to soothe a secret scar..
+++ but I know the look that’s on your face, for every time I lose my place
+++ I’ve disappeared without a trace, somedays I’m almost gone,
+++ I know that there’s a better way, and there’s a price we’ll have to pay,
+++ I know your love’s the only grace that keeps me hangin’ on…

her father was dreamer, & her mother was an optimist,
she got caught between them, she had to let it go,
now I’m a firm believer that there’s some kind of point to this,
but if you need an answer, well, baby, I don’t know..
+++ but I know the look that’s on your face, for every time I lose my place
+++ I’ve disappeared without a trace, somedays I’m almost gone,
+++ I know that there’s a better way, and there’s a price we have to pay,
+++ I know your love’s the only grace that keeps me hangin’ on…
